From
Romans Chapter 7 & 1st Corinthians Chapter 2
7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how
that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
7:2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her
husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed
from the law of her husband.
7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man,
she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is
free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married
to another man.
7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the
body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is
raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by
the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we
were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the
oldness of the letter.
7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not
known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had
said, Thou shalt not covet.
7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all
manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came,
sin revived, and I died.
7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto
death.
7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it
slew me.
7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and
good.
7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But
sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is
good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under
sin.
7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not;
but what I hate, that do I.
7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it
is good.
7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good
thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is
good I find not.
7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not,
that I do.
7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin
that dwelleth in me.
7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with
me.
7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my
mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my
members.
7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of
this death?
7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I
myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you,
came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the
testimony of God.
2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ,
and him crucified.
2:3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the
power of God.
2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the
wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to
nought:
2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom,
which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it,
they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for
them that love him.
2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit
searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man
which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the
Spirit of God.
2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit
which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to
us of God.
2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom
teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things
with spiritual.
2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because
they are spiritually discerned.
2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is
judged of no man.
2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ.
Go ye therefore, and teach
all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
